Cars in German City Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were alerted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the substance was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior official commented the incident left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
